Golf is relaxing. Period. Golf courses have a quiet environment, gorgeous views, and are home to a slow-paced sport that cannot be surpassed when you’re itching for a relaxing activity.
But I have to admit, after years of playing, I remain a high handicap. It’s not that I’m bad, it’s just that I’ve gotten used to bad habits.
That was before I received professional coaching. I’m no Tiger Woods, but I wouldn’t be the most hated golfer… I think.
If you’re just starting out or want to improve your bad strokes, our team is finally sharing our list of the best golf coaches in OKC, for kids, teens, and adults. Time to learn how to hit ‘em straight!
What is the cost of hiring a golf coach in Oklahoma City?
A golf coach in Oklahoma City charges around $70 to $150 per session. The cost will vary depending on the instructor’s expertise, type of lesson, and duration.

Nonetheless, booking a session is easy to do. You can find time slots on any day of the week, with the availability varying per coach.
One of the best golf instructors around
“Chase Cooper is one of the best golf instructors/developers of talent around. I have been around Golf teachers here in OK for over 35 years and Chase has an amazing understanding of the golf swing and how the body rotates. He also communicates difficult concepts to his students in extremely understandable ways where the student easily grasps and owns what he teaches them. Golf instruction is a delicate matter and Chase takes it very seriously. He knows he must continue to learn from others and he does. He also goes the extra mile with his serious clients, spending many evenings at home on the phone with them. This is very rare indeed, but he balances this so well and manages to be a great husband and dad to his three kids. Chase Cooper is one of the best. His best quality is how much he cares for his students.”

2. First Tee

Best For: Kids and teens
Address: 600 N Martin Luther King Ave
Contact: 580-706-0318, [email protected]
Hours: Sunday – Thursday & Saturday: 2:05 pm – 6 pm
First Tee is a solid choice for junior golf lessons in OKC. They focus on kids and teens of all skill levels, but that’s not all they do.
Basically, their golf lessons aren’t just about the sport. It’s about building character and positive habits, such as good sportsmanship, resilience, self-reliance, and confidence—pretty much good qualities that they can carry for life.
We like how comprehensive their program is, where every age will advance to a specific program, so they’re learning alongside their peers. Most importantly, their coaches teach golf etiquette, which is a fundamental lesson that instills respect.
They primarily focus on group lessons, which is perfect for instilling sportsmanship, but private one-on-one lessons will have to take a back seat. For the reasonable prices, we can safely say it’s all good.
Accessibility-wise, they’re golden. Apart from their fully equipped facility, which has a driving range, 3-hole course, and putting areas, they have several teaching sites in golf courses across OKC.
A very enjoyable experience for my son
“Found this program for my son to try golf. They made it a very enjoyable experience for him, painless as a sport can be for us the parents, and are very cost efficient, especially at the beginning. With programs available around the metro, it is a very good program to get involved in if your interest leans toward golf.”

3. Metcalf Putting

Best For: Putting lessons
Address: 7000 NW Grand, Nichols Hills
Contact: (405) 568-0966
Hours: By appointment
Nothing beats a golf coach who is also a PGA Professional (Professional Golfers’ Association), which is what you’ll get at Metcalf Putting. Your coach will be Steven Metcalf, a PGA Class A, who has undergone extensive golf training.
He specialises in putting lessons, where you’ll learn better strokes and posture on the green. You don’t have to be an advanced learner, as he’ll teach all the fundamentals to develop your skills.
Additionally, he uses the latest technologies, ensuring there’s precision and consistency in every swing. Part of this is his custom-fitting service, so every student can fine-tune their putter, or get a whole new one for the lessons.
The grass isn’t always green, however, since he’s a golf coach who focuses on putting for the short game, not ideal for the long game. On the bright side, availability is plenty, with loads of slots six days a week.
We, and most of his clients, understand his rate of $175 per 60-hour session. It’s not the cheapest for amateur players, but for serious golfers, it makes sense.
Amazing technology
“Amazing technology here. One lesson from Steven and I now have much more confidence in my putting. I’ve had two lessons in woods and irons and a one hour putting lesson. The technology he uses shows everything about my putting strokes. Anything inside of 5-6 feet is now much easier since I’ve changed my grip, stance and stroke. Thanks Steven for making my golf game more enjoyable.”

I left with a greater understanding of my mechanics
“I had an excellent lesson with Stephen at Indoor 18. The Q-Lab is a really fun way to learn and gain insights into your putting results. He immediately identified the primary flaw in my swing, and I left with a greater understanding of my mechanics and what I need to work on to improve my putting. I highly recommend scheduling a session and giving Stephen a chance to help you out too.”

Best For: Junior golf
Address: 7501 N Robinson Ave
Contact: (405) 842-2626, [email protected]

When our team included Ball Golf in our list, no one was surprised. They’re exactly who you want to learn golf from, as they’re highly recognized in Oklahoma City.
Plus, they’re composed of experienced instructors, including PGA Professionals (one is a Master Professional). Their skills and knowledge of golf techniques are massive advantages for students.
They primarily focus on junior golf lessons for all skill levels (for kids and teens), while offering adult golf clinics every now and again. All these are taught using the latest technology, resulting in more accurate data and enhanced performance.
To make it even better, their golf coaches provide in-depth lessons that are never boring, as most students appreciated the positive and stress-free environment, with competitiveness and sportsmanship.
Slots don’t last long, unfortunately, since they only accept a limited number of students. We get it, because they aim for a smaller coach-to-student ratio to give everyone focused attention.
Knowledgeable and well-equipped with strategies and techniques
“Love having the opportunity to give my 9 year old grandson a solid foundation for a potential lifetime of good golf through quality instruction by Braxon Ball. Braxon is knowledgeable and well equipped with strategies and techniques to effectively engage and teach young people. Braxon has made a very positive connection, making the game fun while instilling confidence and a spirit of competitiveness that has transferred into other sports and activities for our grandson.”
-Mark Hunt, Google Review
Truthful approach
“Had a lesson with Stan recently and will definitely be back for a few more. I really appreciated his truthful approach, he didn’t sugarcoat things and was very candid about what I need to work on and how much work it would take. Their facility was impressive as well.”

At Five Iron Golf, you can practice during the off-season. This indoor golf bar offers lessons and clinics in Oklahoma City, perfect for beginners who want to start slow.
It brings golf practice and fun times in one swing. Apart from golf coaching, it also offers simulator rentals to practice your swings, with an impressive number of over 300 championship courses.
Let’s talk about the golf lessons, which start with a swing analysis via the Trackman technology. Then, the coach (one is a PGA Professional) will teach you exactly what you need to adjust to practice better techniques.
Plus, they’re available for individual and small group sessions. Overall, we had fun here, especially during happy hour for $5 beers—just like having a beverage cart, but with bottomless wings.
However, make sure your wallet is ready because the swing evaluation costs $99, which is pretty high for a simulation in OKC, so try looking into the monthly membership. But with the price, you can use the clubs, including kids’ and left-handed sets.
Awesome environment
“Awesome environment. Great Beer specials Monday through Thursday and 1/2 price bay rental. Memberships are the way to go for the Yukonites because we have no golf course in South Yukon and the air conditioning in the heat in the simulators are the way to go.”
-Anthony Walker, Google Review
The simulator was very informative
“100% will be back as soon as I get a chance. The simulator was very informative. I’m really excited to understand it more in depth. The cameras showing the angle of the club face striking the ball was helpful for a big time slicer like me. I would give 6 stars to the staff if the option was available. Summer was brilliant and went out of her way to help me. I honestly can’t say how thankful I was for this person. An absolute gem!”
