The Top 5 Home Health Care Givers in Oklahoma City to Deliver Care and Comfort

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Qualifications: Providing home health care isn’t a walk in the park, so it’s important for the aides to possess the right knowledge, proper training, and a solid background in caring for people needing constant assistance.

Quality of Care: Not only do the aides need the training and background, but they must be properly vetted to ensure you’re receiving care from a reliable and trustworthy person.

Range of Services: There are lots of conditions and living situations that need home care, so offering a range of services can accommodate various people.

Professionalism: Providing proper care is a given, but what’s also important is showing compassion to every patient, as needing constant assistance is going to be an emotional battle.

Communication: The caregivers and management must be easy to communicate with regarding changes in treatment care and urgent situations. They must also be responsive to ensure a smooth transition.

Availability: The quicker the home health care can provide a caregiver, the better the transition will be. It’s especially helpful for families who need immediate assistance.

Fees Transparency: The cost of home care varies with every person’s needs, so it’s important for the service provider to be honest about the fees to avoid surprise charges.

The one thing I hate about getting older is the realization that our parents are aging too. I wasn’t prepared to see my dad, who was once the strongest and most capable person I knew, suddenly needing assistance bathing and dressing up.

It’s a tough reality to face, but it’s inevitable. I helped my mom take care of my dad, but it dawned on us that we might need extra help, especially when the mental toll finally started affecting us.

Asking for help from a stranger was hard at first, but we knew we couldn’t do it all by ourselves (and my mom’s old, too). It took a little time and adjustment, but the assistance from a trained caregiver actually brought my dad back his independence.

No one’s alone in this world, as long as we have home health care services. Here are OKC’s best, where compassion meets day-to-day assistance.

1. FirstLight Home Care

It was evident that FirstLight Home Care would be included in our list, as they’re a highly recognized home health care provider in Oklahoma City. Most importantly, the level of service from their aides is outstanding, from physical to emotional support.

Let’s start with their offerings, which cover everything under the sun. They’re available for senior, companion, and personal care in OKC and its surrounding areas.

Additionally, they provide veteran, dementia, respite, and rehabilitation care. Basically, they can assist with basic household tasks, meal preparations, transportation, medication reminders, errands, and more.

Their aides are top-notch, as mentioned by their patients and families. We appreciate the high level of care and compassion they’ve shown by going above and beyond the usual care.

For example, families noted that their elderly parents have shown positive changes in behavior ever since receiving home care, mainly due to the genuineness, emotional support, and overall professionalism of their aides.

Hiccups do show up sometimes, particularly with the management’s inconsistency in communication. These were quickly rectified, thankfully.

Pros

  • Highly recognized in OKC
  • Provides physical and emotional support
  • Top-notch non-medical home care
  • Goes above and beyond

Cons

  • Some communication gaps

So very happy with the service we received

“We have been using Firstlight Home Health for several months now. So very happy with the service we receive for my father and mother with them. KeeKee Jackson is an amazing care giver! Whatever needs my father has she is right there ready to help and do whatever is required and needed! My parents have been so happy with her and consider her part of the family! She treats them with respect and kindness! Wouldn’t think of using a different service ever!”

A great example of what to look for when it comes to care

“I have had the privilege of coming in contact with several employees of this establishment and each one of them are amazing! (Will, Emily, Peggy, Sylvester to name a few) Each of them are genuine to say the least. Today I met the office manager Tiara and once again I am so impressed! The way each employee represents the company and how they interact makes me feel like this is the place I would want my family around if I should ever need their services. Definitely a great example of what to look for when it comes to care!! Great job!!”

We were pleased with Care Plus Home Care because they’re ideal for short and long-term in-home assistance. They’re the kind of non-medical home care that won’t require too much fuss—although that will still depend on your insurance coverage.

One of their most convenient services is their 4-hour home care, ideal for individuals who need part-time assistance, like getting discharged from the hospital. They’re still available for round-the-clock care, mainly for people with debilitating conditions.

Their caregivers can also assist with personal care (like bathing and dressing up), mobility support, light household chores (including caring for pets), meal preparation, and errands.

Moreover, the patient-centered care is greatly appreciated, as the aides are there when it matters most. Based on what we’ve witnessed, their caregivers know how to communicate well, which makes the whole care service smooth and stress-free.

We do suggest providing advanced notice for transportation, but their schedule is still pretty flexible for last-minute outings. It’s not a big deal, but an aide may not be immediately available when they’re all booked and busy.

Pros

  • Ideal for short and long-term care
  • Provides 4-hour minimum care
  • Patient-centered service
  • Flexible schedule

Cons

  • May need advance transportation notice

Several caregivers truly became part of our family

“For 7 years this agency made it possible for me to live well, and continue to thrive as I cared for my Mom. Care Plus maintained communication at all times, several of the caregivers truly became part of our family and gave my Mom a chance to have so much more quality in her life. They were attentive to Mom’s physical, mental and emotional needs. Many went above and beyond as they liked being busy and kept so much done that made things so much easier when I came home from my part-time job. I’m glad they were well trained in their profession, but blessed by their willingness to care about both our well-beings.”

The caregivers are awesome and really care about their clients

“Care Plus Home Care took care of my aunt for eight years and they also provided 24 hour care for my good friend before she passed away last year. The care givers are awesome and really care about their clients. When someone I know asks me who would I recommend for in-home care, I always tell them Care Plus Home Care. I still keep their phone number in my phone.”

When talking about specialized daily home living assistance, Synergy Home Care is one of the names at the top of our list. The compassion and professionalism we’ve seen have been outstanding but not surprising.

For example, they bring positive energy to the environment, where they show care, understanding, and respect without judgment. For an individual who needs constant care, these qualities can bring an optimistic light to the situation.

Their services don’t fall short, as they’re available for home and specialized care, including disability, cancer, and diabetic support. Plus, their end-of-life care can provide extra help for the patient and their family.

We like that they can usually send out a caregiver immediately, although it still depends on the patient’s needs and customized care plan. It’s still fairly quick since there’s no long waiting list.

When it comes to communication, they knock it out of the park. We didn’t see any issues with planning and billing, even when the patient needs to relocate to a different city, as they provide quality care throughout.

Pros

  • Brings positive energy to the environment
  • Professional and compassionate
  • Excellent communication
  • Thorough care during relocation

Cons

  • Aide dispatch depends on needs and plan

Visiting Angels Home Care has several offices in Oklahoma City, making in-home care a breeze for families who need it. They cover OKC and its surrounding areas, and they have all the services you need for non-medical assistance.

Their carefully chosen caregivers provide services for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients who need constant assistance. To add, they offer companion, personal, and palliative care as well—everything’s covered!

What caught our eye was their fall prevention program, which sets up a personalized plan and sends a caregiver who has the strength and training to prevent slips and falls for the elderly. But when busy, emergency placement won’t be immediately available.

Still, their home care aides have been outstanding by going the extra mile. Aside from helping with light housework, medication, socialization, and errands, they also show exceptional care and support by being emotionally resilient during tough times.

Budget-wise, they’re reasonable when compared to others in the area, mainly for hourly care. Although their office isn’t open all day and night, their home health care services are still available 24/7.

Pros

  • Offers a fall prevention program for the elderly
  • Emotionally resilient home care aides
  • Wide coverage area
  • Reasonable hourly rates

Cons

  • Urgent placement depends on availability
  • Office is closed on weekends

An incredible blessing to our family

“Visiting Angels has been an incredible blessing to our family as my mom navigates stage 4 cancer. Their caregivers have shown genuine compassion, patience, and dignity in every interaction. They go above and beyond to make her comfortable and allow our family to focus on being present with her rather than overwhelmed by care duties. We are truly grateful for their kindness and support during such a difficult season.”

Wonderful care from an amazing aide

“Wonderful care from an amazing aid. Kind, compassionate, caring, Angel was truly a gift to my family. I absolutely recommend Visiting Angels to anyone in need of home care. I was able to go to work knowing my father was safe and well taken care of. I cannot say enough good things about this agency.”

5. Interim HealthCare of Oklahoma City

Interim HealthCare of Oklahoma City initially caught our attention because of its half-century experience. Although we must say that it’s really its range of services that completely impressed us!

You see, they provide complete home health care in Oklahoma City, and by that, we mean non-medical and medical services. They’ve got it all covered, basically, since they have qualified professionals to assist you, such as therapists and nurses.

Additionally, they make day-to-day life as stress-free as possible by assisting with personal care (bathing and toileting assistance), light housekeeping (laundry and cleaning), and companion services (social interaction and cognitive stimulation).

But from what we’ve seen, they fall a little short in communication, as responses were delayed at times. It doesn’t affect the in-home health care aide at all, which is what’s important here.

The genuine support is the heart of the matter, anyway. Their caregivers have shown heartfelt care by making patients (and their families) feel like family through the high level of service they’ve provided, all wrapped in compassion.

Pros

  • Over 50 years in the industry
  • Provides medical and non-medical services
  • Has trained professionals on the team
  • Compassionate team

Cons

  • Cases of delayed responses by the management

They always seem to know what my dad needs

“The hospice nurses Kelli and Ashley are great they are very good with my father. The guide me in the right directions and always seem to know what my dad needs. The hospice care we are receiving with these 2 nurses couldn’t be more professional or caring.”

-Jayme Lysles, Google Review

Above and beyond

“We used Interim for home health and when it was time to transitioned to Hospice. They were great with Mom in her care but also helping her children with all the feelings we were experiencing. It was difficult coming to terms with Mom’s decision to stop treatment. After she passed they checked on us which I felt was above and beyond. Watching some at end of life is difficult but it helped having support.”
