Before I hired a personal trainer, I only followed a workout plan I nabbed from a random fitness blog with a name I can’t remember. It did help me lose a few pounds, but it didn’t really target what I wanted it to.
So I finally caved in and hired a personal trainer, and boy, it was the best decision I made. I realized, big time, that I was doing it wrong.
Turns out I was doing the wrong technique and posture, and my “workout plan” was bound to send me to a physical therapist.Yikes!
Don’t be like me. Your time at the gym should be worthwhile. Here are our trusted personal trainers in OKC to help you get in shape, build muscles, and improve your mobility!
How much does a personal trainer charge in Oklahoma City?

Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 5 am – 6 pm

One of our favorite personal trainers in OKC is FitYes Fitness, headed by Zak Mcbride, a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified coach who focuses on lifestyle changes, not just physical training.
He accommodates all sorts of schedules through his range of services, including private and semi-private training and online coaching. The flexibility makes him accessible to busy bees who don’t have all the time in the world to go to the gym.
Plus, he’s not just about cardio and strength training, as he also offers yoga classes. These fitness services allow him to work with all shapes and sizes, whether you’re a beginner or not.
Personal training doesn’t always have 100% positive results, but here, we’re pretty confident. Judging by what we’ve seen, Zak knows how to adjust his strategy to target exactly what the client needs, complete with new types of workouts.
Plus, the well-equipped private strength facility means it won’t be crowded during your sessions—and we love that here. But that also means there are limited memberships, but it’s not like it’s impossible to get a slot.
Always providing new and challenging workouts
“Zak is awesome as a trainer! He’s always providing new and challenging workouts, while protecting injuries, if needed! His help with nutrition and positive attitude are so encouraging! The gym is clean, great equipment, and the staff is helpful and pleasant. Invest in your health with him!!”

He is incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and responsive, always ready to collaborate with his clients to achieve their individual goals. My main goal is to build confidence in the gym, and I can say without a doubt that my confidence has increased tenfold while working with Zak. His motivation and personable nature make every session enjoyable and effective. Zak has also helped me establish a routine that has positively influenced my overall well-being, and I now actually look forward to going to the gym. If you’re looking for a personal trainer who genuinely cares about your success and well-being, Zak is your guy!!! 10/10.”

It’s no surprise that Ryan Vivar Fitness made it to our list. He’s a highly qualified personal trainer in Oklahoma City, and he has the evidence to back it up.
You see, he has earned national and international awards, including being selected by the National Fitness Hall of Fame in 2024. Clearly, he’s earned his spot in the industry, and it shows through his recognition and the clients he’s worked with.
As an example, a buddy of mine enjoyed the 1-on-1 training, as he had plenty of privacy away from prying eyes. Vivar doesn’t have semi-private training, though, for clients who prefer to join small groups.
Nevertheless, he’s got all the bases covered for any type of fitness journey, as all ages are welcome at his gym through private training. Plus, he offers a Fitness After 50 OK program, a safe and effective training made specifically for people over 50.

3. Fit-Werks Personal Training

Address: 9333 W Reno Ave
Contact: (405) 265-3445
Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 5:15 am – 8 pm
- Friday: 5:15 am – 5:45 pm
- Saturday: 7:30 am – 10:30 am
Fit-Werks Personal Training starts with a 7-day free trial, a cool offering that’ll give you a chance to try them out first. They’ve been in the industry since 2009 and have built lots of programs for all fitness levels.
You get certified personal trainers in Oklahoma City, composed of men and women. Pretty nice, as it allows you to pick who you’re most comfortable with.
We were most excited about their focus on training and nutrition, since simply running on the treadmill won’t help you reach your fitness goals. The personalized training even includes daily check-ins and weekly body scans—true accountability right there!
Most of all, there’s a variety of fitness programs, from weight loss to bulking up. For example, their Barbell Club targets strength and lifting, the Fit-Werks Forever is for clients over 60 years old, and the Bootcamp is a large group workout.
We don’t really mind the lack of full online coaching for busy clients, since the results we’ve seen from their in-gym personal training have been incredible. Even our friend who had zero muscles managed to bulk up!
Great environment with great coaches
“Love this gym! Great environment with great coaches and amazing people! It’s great for beginners and for those more advanced.”

Truly changed my life
“In February, I will have officially been a member of FitWerks for 5 years, and it’s truly changed my life. I had never been a gym goer, and I was so nervous to even step through their doors, but I was supported and encouraged every step of the way. FitWerks now feels like a home away from home. I’ve learned how to fuel my body to be the best version of myself, and I’ve made some of the best friendships with the greatest of people. FitWerks is such a special gym, and I love being a member here. Please come join us, you won’t regret it. All of the coaches will know you by name, and will genuinely care about helping you reach your health and fitness goals.”

4. NexGen Fitness of Nichol Hills

Address: 7302 N Western Ave
Contact: Online form
Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 5 am – 9 pm
- Saturday: 6 am – 3 pm
If you’re looking for a gym close to your home or office, NexGen Fitness is worth checking out. They have several locations in OKC, where we’ve seen huge transformations.
That’s because they take personal coaching seriously. As a private training gym, you won’t have to worry about huge crowds (especially around January and summer months), and we appreciate this for first-timers or shy clients.
During our visit, we were surprised at the top-notch facility, but not all OKC locations will be equipped with the same types of cardio equipment. Then again, it won’t affect your personalized training plan, which is what completely hooked us in.
Basically, there’s a variety of exercises incorporated into your workout plan, like kickboxing—a plan that keeps things moving, avoiding plateaus. A nice addition is that you’re free to use the cardio equipment whenever you want.
Budget-wise, you won’t be stuck in a contract. It’s cool that you only pay for the session, without gym memberships.
Great gym for personal training
“Great gym for personal training! My trainer Cole is great to work with. He always has a good workout plan but also makes sure it fits what I am wanting to work on. The gym has been super flexible with timing and sessions and has a great set of equipment. Cole and other trainers have always been super friendly and provide fun conversation, exercise tips and encouragement.”

The workouts are meticulously planned, and David is a true professional and excellent trainer! Whether it’s strength training or cardio, he knows how to push me to achieve my goals. I’ve seen significant improvements in my over all well-being! As someone with a demanding corporate lifestyle, this has been a game changer. The efficient workouts allow me to maintain consistency despite my busy work schedule. It’s ideal for anyone juggling work, family, and personal health!”

5. Evolve Fitness OKC

Address: 10966 N May Ave, The Village
Contact: [email protected]
Hours:
- Monday & Friday: 6:30 am – 7 pm
- Tuesday – Thursday: 6:30 am – 7:30 pm
- Saturday: 9 am – 11 am
We appreciate Evolve Fitness OKC for not using the typical gym approach. Instead, their personal trainers focus on helping you feel confident through consistency and fun workout plans, not cookie-cutter solutions.
It’s nice to have a personal trainer who understands that not all gym goers are fitness junkies. The game plans are backed by science, tailored to your body, lifestyle, and goals.
But how? They offer 3 fitness programs for first-timers, those who thrive in small group training (no huge crowds), and clients who need help making it a habit. The inclusions are incredible, BTW, including unlimited sessions for the group workouts.
Although there’s no online coaching, they have a fitness app with workout plans you can follow, even when traveling. It’s even complete with a calorie tracker.
As for the prices, we found them reasonable—the beginner plan is only $10 a day. You actually get what you’re paying for, and probably more, because almost all clients we met improved strength, mobility, and confidence!
Has truly exceeded my expectations
“Chanel and Jamie are top-notch! Evolve Fitness has truly exceeded my expectations since first contact. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, making me feel comfortable from day one. Jamie and Chanel are not only friendly but also genuinely invested in your fitness journey, creating a positive and supportive environment. What sets them apart is their commitment to pushing you to achieve your best – the trainers motivate you without ever making you feel overwhelmed. It’s a place where encouragement and comfort combine seamlessly, making every workout an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!”
