We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Qualifications – We checked their experience and track record to gauge their integrity as a storage space provider.

Climate control – We prioritized facilities that offer climate control, which is essential for protecting electronics, wooden furniture, and important documents.

Drive-up access – We considered units with easy drive-up access to simplify loading and unloading, especially for heavy furniture and bulky items.

Security – We selected storage providers that maintain strong security measures, including individual door alarms, on-site managers, and secure perimeter fencing.

Availability and scheduling – We evaluated facilities that reliably accommodate client schedules and provide flexible rental options without delays or conflicts.

Customer service – We assessed responsiveness and professionalism, making sure staff handle inquiries and concerns courteously and efficiently.

Price – We compared rates across units, factoring in size, amenities, climate control, and added service to see if they’re reasonable.

The other day, my sister ranted about how she could practically feel the HOA breathing down her neck, sending those constant “gentle” reminders to clear up her front yard after a major decluttering session for her son’s college move.

A yard sale was briefly on the table, but they quickly scrapped the idea when they realized they actually wanted to keep most of the stuff—they just needed more space (and maybe a little space from the HOA, too).

That’s why my team and I reviewed the best storage space facilities in Oklahoma City for anyone planning a move, downsizing, or simply running out of room at home. Keep reading to find out which facilities offer the right sizes, security, climate control, and pricing to fit your needs.

How much does a storage unit cost in Oklahoma City?

Storage unit prices in Oklahoma City vary by size and features; most renters pay around $120-$130 per month for a typical unit. Smaller 5×5 units often go for $30-$40, while standard 10×10 units are about $80-$130.

What immediately caught our attention with Extra Space Storage is the sheer number of locations it has in Oklahoma City, around 16. There’s drive-up access, so you can pull up directly to your unit to load and unload without having to lug your stuff around.

We like that they offer compact 5×5 units to larger 12×50 (or even larger at some locations), so you pretty much store anything you want.

And if you’re storing something more sensitive, such as electronics, wooden furniture, and important documents, then you can go for their climate-controlled storage that usually stays between 55°F and 80°F.

It’s also worth mentioning that most facilities offer large drive aisles for big trucks, moving carts, freeway access, and more, to make the move-in and move-out process easier.

Now, we’re glad that several locations include 24-hour access, but keep in mind that some don’t offer this.

The good news is that their security features are reliable, with video surveillance and electronic gate access, and some even have on-site managers.

Pros

  • Wide range of unit sizes
  • Drive-up access at many locations
  • Offers climate-controlled units
  • Has reliable security
  • 24-hour access for some locations
  • Convenient amenities

Cons

  • Some locations don’t offer 24/7 access

Storage Sense gives you a 6th sense when it comes to planning how much space you really need for your belongings. You can use their storage calculator on their website to help you estimate the right unit size you need before renting.

Plus, they have a wide range of storage sizes, from traditional units to smaller storage lockers for those who only need minimal extra space.

The handy part? You can reserve, lease, and manage your storage unit entirely online without having to drop by their office first. This is a lifesaver if you’re occupied for the day or busy with moving.

Speaking of moving, we like that they have boxes and packing materials for sale onsite, so you won’t have to leave for any last-minute supply runs if you run out of boxes.

It’s just a bummer that they don’t offer 24-hour access; you can get there until 10 PM at most. On a positive note, we’re happy to see that they have staff members on-site to help you if you need anything.

  • Reliable climate-controlled units
  • Has an online system and digital tools
  • Wide size range
  • On-site storage experts
  • Moving supplies available

Right off the bat, we love that The Storage Center is a clean and brightly lit facility, as well as the storage areas. Having a well-maintained area means that your belongings are less likely to be messed up by rodents or bugs.

It’s reassuring to know that they have climate-controlled units built for OKC’s temperature swings. Going for these units is a good idea if you have sensitive stuff like wood furniture, electronics, and more.

For those still 50-50 on how reliable they are, we have to give their facilities props for featuring strong security, like electronic gate access, fenced and lighted grounds, and continuous surveillance cameras.

Here’s the thing, though: we found out that you’re required to buy insurance or enroll in a protection plan as part of rental agreements, which adds up to your total costs.

Nonetheless, we do understand that it’s part of their way for better protection. And it’s nice that they provide complimentary moving carts and dollies.

Pros

  • Clean, well-lit facilities
  • Multiple security layers
  • Reliable climate-controlled units
  • Complimentary moving carts and dollies

Cons

  • No 24-hour access
  • Insurance is required

If you anticipate making frequent or multiple storage visits, then Storage King USA is a solid pick since the facility sits near Interstate 40 and Interstate 44. It’s accessible from several OKC suburbs like Yukon, Mustang, and Bethany.

As you pull up inside, we’re impressed by the property size, spanning roughly 10 acres with hundreds of units and multiple storage formats. That means you’re more likely to find the exact unit you need without waiting lists.

On that note, many units feature outside drive-up access, so you can park directly in front of your unit for loading and unloading.

It’s also worth noting that they have covered and open parking for RVs, trailers, and boats.

Price-wise, many clients have shared that at first, the price they received was reasonable, but they’ve also encountered a sudden price increase months later.

Being a military member puts you in a better position, though. You can get a discount, which can reduce monthly costs.

Pros

  • Located near major highways
  • Large property size
  • Has drive-up access
  • Covered and open parking
  • Offers military discounts

Cons

  • No 24/7 access
  • Some reports of price hikes

The standout with U-STOR Self Storage for us is probably the fact that alarms are connected directly to each unit rather than relying only on perimeter security. Individual alarms are an extra layer of monitoring, and they reduce theft risk.

And they double down on their security by prioritizing surveillance, alarms, and physical oversight systems. It gives us peace of mind knowing your belongings are well-protected and secured.

It also helps that they have managers who basically live on-site to oversee daily operations and monitor activity. We like that someone always has an eye out for the place since it discourages break-ins.

Now, it’s a shame that they don’t focus on providing climate-controlled units, so if you mainly have electronics, wooden furniture, and documents, you might have to look elsewhere.

But hey, aside from that, they pretty much cover most belongings. You can even store your vehicles, trailers, or RVs alongside traditional storage units.

Pros

  • Individually alarmed storage units
  • On-site resident managers
  • Strong focus on security
  • Packing and moving supplies available

Cons

  • Limited climate-control options
  • Fewer modern digital features

Units are safe and secure

“The units are safe and secure, but what I appreciate the most is the customer service. Friendly, and accommodating they go above and beyond.”

– Addy Holland, Google Review

Each unit is alarmed and they actually work

“Clean & well kept property. Each unit is alarmed & they actually work & provide a detailed printout in the office every time the door is opened or closed & for how long!!”
