The 5 Best Animal Hospitals in Oklahoma City for Quality Pet Care

top-animal-hospitals-oklahoma-city
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality of services – We sought animal hospitals known for consistent, high-quality care, including accurate diagnostics, safe surgeries, and dependable energy services for pets.

Animal handling – We prioritized clinics where veterinarians and staff are trained to handle pets gently and calmly, helping reduce stress during visits.

Range of services – We selected hospitals that offer comprehensive care, from routine checkups and vaccinations to diagnostics, surgery, and specialized treatments.

Facility and equipment – We looked for hospitals with modern medical technology, clean and sterile treatment areas, and well-organized spaces that support safe and efficient care.

Availability and scheduling – We considered clinics that offer flexible appointment options, accommodate urgent cases, and keep wait times reasonable so pets receive timely care.

Price – We included clinics that provide clear cost estimates upfront, avoid hidden fees, and offer fair pricing without compromising quality.

I realized I had a serious soft spot for animals the moment I started bawling uncontrollably watching Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. And it wasn’t a one-time thing either—I’ll tear up just as easily over random social media reels with those sad-sounding audios.

Having my dog right next to me definitely doesn’t help with the waterworks. He’s getting older now, so keeping him healthy and safe is always on my mind, and I’ve learned that there’s a lot to watch out for as pets age.

That said, we reviewed the best animal hospitals in Oklahoma City, where you can get emergency care, wellness exams, and surgical services. Read on to find the right one for your pet’s needs.

How much does an animal hospital visit cost in Oklahoma City?

An animal hospital visit in Oklahoma City costs about $50 to $150 for a routine checkup, with an average of around $120 per visit. Sick visits can run $100 to $300, and emergency visits can reach $500 and up.

Right off the bat, the sheer lineup of services at Woodlake Animal Hospital is already impressive. You can expect your pet to get the care they need under one place: wellness exams, surgeries, diagnostics, dentistry, ultrasound, and hospitalization.

They have a team of experienced veterinarians who can take on complex cases, such as infections and urgent conditions. It’s also a real lifesaver that they offer same-day care when needed, especially during emergencies or when you’re racing against time.

We applaud how gentle they are with your pets in stressful and sensitive situations like illness or recovery. It’s relieving to see them skilfully handle anxious pets.

Just note that they’re closed on Sundays, so if you’re planning on last-minute routine checkups before Monday work rolls in, you’ll have to plan accordingly.

Other than that, this hospital is well-attuned to how to make your pet’s situation better. They even offer boarding services for better medical supervision.

Pros

  • Full-service care
  • Great animal handling
  • Reliable diagnostic and surgical capabilities
  • Same-day and urgent care when needed
  • Broad preventive and wellness care options
  • Offers boarding services

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays

The doctor patiently and gently examined our dog

“The doctor patiently & Gently examined our dog and concluded he had slightly tweaked his hip and has some arthritis . We had an option of monthly shots and/or pills for the inflammation and pain. Both pills (cheaper ) & monthly shot could be given together. The shot worked great within the hour & I realize my dog had been suffering in silence periodically for a while. We went with shot & pill because our dog was crying so he needed relief fast . I think we are going to do monthly shots and pills as needed for pain & Arthritis management”

Thrilled with the level of care and customer service

“I previously wrote a five star review, but prefer to update any review with a more recent experience. I continue to be thrilled with the level of care and customer service I receive here. I have seen both Dr. Foerster and Dr. Sperry since my previous review. Both were kind to my cats and patient with my questions.”

We like that 405 Vet Animal Hospital has a broad range of medical and surgical services, from wellness exams and vaccinations to surgeries and internal medicine.

Their on-site laboratory and imaging tools help them process bloodwork, urinalysis, parasite testing, and X-rays quickly—often within hours. Faster diagnostics means they can start treatment sooner, which is crucial for sick or unstable pets.

We’re happy to say that they treat exotic pets as well. They can provide care for reptiles, birds, small mammals, and other types of species.

Now, we did come across some frustrations about the rates and quoted fees as being pricey. This might come as a shock, especially for owners who come in for urgent care and don’t have time to discuss pricing.

But hey, it’s worth noting that they can perform complex orthopedic surgeries like CCL repair and TPLO surgery. You won’t have to switch to another hospital if your pet’s diagnostics come out as needing surgery.

Pros

  • Wide range of medical and surgical services
  • Reliable in-house diagnostics
  • Offers advanced orthopedic procedures
  • Treats exotic pets

Cons

  • Some reports of pricey quotes

Always gone above and beyond

“I’ve taken several of my pets to this clinic over the years, and they’ve always gone above and beyond to meet both my needs and those of my animals and their pricing is very reasonable compared to other clinics in the area. We’ve had a few emergencies, and they’ve always accommodated us even on short notice. One of my dogs has pretty severe anxiety about vet visits, and the staff’s patience made a huge difference, easing a lot of stress for both of us! Highly recommend this clinic!”

Great facility with wonderful people

“This place is amazing. The staff is so kind and has been so sweet to my babies. They always answer my panicked phone calls and they listen with so much empathy. I just went to take one of my kitties in for a burn wound last night and they were so gentle with him. They even helped me carry all of the stuff they sent me with out to the car. Overall just a great facility with wonderful people.”

Harvest Hills Veterinary Hospital uses modern diagnostic tools and testing to assess your pet’s health accurately and build reliable medical profiles.

Thanks to their in-house capabilities, they can get things moving more quickly and find out the issue more efficiently. On that note, this isn’t just beneficial for critical cases; pets who come in for tests or routine checkups can also start preventive care and long-term wellness plans.

We also find it impressive that their veterinary team can manage and treat a wide range of conditions. You can count on them if your pet has heart problems, cancer, endocrine disorders, or mobility issues.

Quick heads-up: while they do take urgent care cases during business hours, they’ll refer you to other hospitals for after-hours or 24/7 emergencies. Nonetheless, it’s refreshing to see that they have no hesitation in referring you to other places if they fall short.

Pros

  • In-house testing
  • Comprehensive medical care
  • Handles diverse conditions

Cons

  • No 24/7 emergency services

Speedy diagnosis and care

“Everyone from the front desk, technicians, and vet were professional, knowledgeable, and caring about my puppy’s issues. She made a quick recovery due to their speedy diagnosis and care. Thankyou”

Compassionate and detailed oriented

“I have been taking my dogs here for years and the staff are amazing! So passionate and I really feel they care about our fur babies. Dr. Seiger is wonderful! She is so compassionate and detailed oriented, and always honest when giving us information. Our new puppy was having some tummy issues and the staff were so attentive and took care of our sweet boy while they figured out what was going on with him. Would highly recommend bringing your fur babies in for care at Harvest Hills!”

4. Lakeview Pet Hospital

What’s neat about Lakeview Pet Hospital is that it’s both accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and is a Fear Free Certified Practice. So, this hospital follows strict medical standards while also actively reducing pet anxiety during visits.

Their newly designed facility was designed after AAHA and Fear Free standards, which we find commendable. We even noticed how they separate waiting areas for cats and dogs to avoid any clashes or cause unnecessary stress for the animals.

We also love that, beyond routine care, the hospital accepts cases for orthopedic concerns, reconstructive surgery, oncology, and internal medicine. Conveniently, lab testing, ultrasounds, and preventive screenings are all done on-site.

The downside? They’re not a round-the-clock emergency facility, so you’ll have to look elsewhere if you have any emergencies outside business hours.

But the silver lining is that alongside medical care, you can also entrust them with your pet’s grooming, boarding, and even nutritional counseling.

Pros

  • Has AAHA accreditation and Fear Free certification
  • Offers advanced surgeries and orthopedics
  • Reliable lab testing capabilities
  • Great lifestyle services

Cons

  • No emergency care outside business hours
  • Services can feel pricier than others

So kind and supportive

“Dr Van Sickle and everyone at LAKEVIEW Pet Hospital are absolutely the best. Dr Van Sickle goes over and beyond in the care of my cat Whiskers! Everyone that works there are so kind and supportive when you call about your pet and when you are in office they make sure you are taken care of!! I still have my Whiskers today because of Dr Van Sickle”

The team work hard to make things as stress free as possible

“I made the switch to Lakeview about 18 months ago for my four dogs, and I’m so glad I did. The team work hard to make things has stress free as possible for the dogs – my dog who previously had to be medicated for vet visits now is enthusiastic about the experience. The vets always take time to hear me and thoroughly explain what’s going on – which I greatly appreciate. Thank you!”

We feel more confident with the services at Midwest Veterinary Hospital after witnessing how well they maintain a clean and fresh environment. It makes both you and your pet feel more comfortable when you visit, plus cleanliness directly impacts health and safety.

Having the core services under one roof is another win. It’s easier to stay consistent with checkups, vaccinations, dental care, surgery, and radiology without switching clinics.

The pet owners we spoke with also expressed their relief and satisfaction with how the team handled their pets—gentle and caring.

It’s a bummer that they can’t check your pet outside of business hours, since there’s no 24/7 emergency care support you can get from them. And we even noted some reports regarding unreturned calls or inconsistent communication, especially for those who call to inquire.

On the bright side, we do appreciate that the clinic provides hospice and euthanasia services, which are all done with a compassionate approach.

Pros

  • Clean and well-maintained facility
  • Full-service care
  • Provides hospice and euthanasia services

Cons

  • Some reports of inconsistent communication
  • No 24/7 care

Caring, compassionate

“I’ve been using Midwest veterinarian hospital for many years. This whole clinic is amazing. Their caring, compassionate. They love all the animals that come through their doors. This is a picture of my Poncho and lefti.”

“We always receive great care here. They truly care and are empathetic. They usually have quick service while not rushing you. They clearly love animals and are good with humans too.”
